Bassano in Teverina, rientra nei borghi più belli d'Italia e contiene un segreto di cui ancora di sa poco. Nel 1975 durante dei lavori di consolidamento della torre dell'orologio che si trova all'ingresso del borgo, fu scoperto un campanile medievale! Sembra incredibile ma la torre è stata edificata intorno ad un campanile per farlo sparire alla vista! Il motivo non si conosce, molti documenti sono spariti negli archivi ed oggi si è propensi a ritenere che in passato il Campanile dovesse aver ricevuto qualche maledizione, tanto da essere "rinchiuso" e non distrutto. Tante le stranezze, a partire dalle statue sulle colonnine del campanile che hanno tutti i volti che guardano verso la cattedrale deturpati, fino alla colonnina di uno dei capitelli che sembra fatta nei giorni nostri, ma nessuno sapeva di questo campanile fino al 1975 e lo stesso era stato "fuso" all'interno della torre e riempito con pietre e terra. Anche la chiesa conserva dei segreti, con il tetto con i simboli dei templari, un affresco sull'abside con la croce dei templari e l'occhio della Massoneria, fino all'affresco del Cristo con due volti, forse unico caso al mondo.

A Bassano in Teverina, durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, un convoglio ferroviario tedesco carico di munizioni, esplose nella stazione del paese. L'esplosione, avvenuta il 25 ottobre 1943, fu causata da un attacco aereo americano e distrusse in parte il borgo antico. L'evento fu talmente significativo da essere oggetto di un libro intitolato "L'esplosione di un convoglio ferroviario alla stazione di Bassano in Teverina - 25 ottobre 1943", scritto da un autore locale. L'episodio è ricordato per la sua drammaticità e per i danni che causò al paese, oltre che per la distruzione di uno dei caccia americani che parteciparono all'attacco. La vicenda è stata ricostruita anche attraverso testimonianze di residenti e documenti d'epoca. 

Bassano in Teverina is one of Italy's most beautiful villages and holds a secret that is still largely unknown. In 1975, during consolidation work on the clock tower at the entrance to the village, a medieval bell tower was discovered! It seems incredible, but the tower was built around a bell tower to hide it from view! The reason for this is unknown, as many documents have disappeared from the archives, and today it is believed that in the past the bell tower must have been cursed, so much so that it was ‘locked up’ rather than destroyed. There are many oddities, starting with the statues on the columns of the bell tower, which all have their faces turned towards the cathedral, to the column of one of the capitals, which seems to have been made in modern times, but no one knew about this bell tower until 1975, and it had been ‘melted’ inside the tower and filled with stones and earth. The church also holds secrets, with its roof bearing Templar symbols, a fresco on the apse with the Templar cross and the eye of Freemasonry, and a fresco of Christ with two faces, perhaps the only one of its kind in the world.

In Bassano in Teverina, during World War II, a German train loaded with ammunition exploded at the town's station. The explosion, which occurred on October 25, 1943, was caused by an American air raid and partially destroyed the ancient village. The event was so significant that it was the subject of a book entitled “The explosion of a train at Bassano in Teverina station - October 25, 1943,” written by a local author. The episode is remembered for its drama and the damage it caused to the town, as well as for the destruction of one of the American fighter planes that took part in the attack. The story has also been reconstructed through the testimonies of residents and documents from the period.
